YDU and YOU - Dress for less or more
Save costs fashionably on a fabulous one size fits all dress!
Amsterdam, July 13, 2009 – Young Designers United (YDU) invites fashion lovers to work together with their favorite YDU designer and create their own “dress for less or more” during the next edition of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week. YDU designers will create various “one dress fits all” garments. The dresses will be presented during the exposition YDU and YOU at the YDU store, as of July 18th. For one week you can visit the exposition, choose your favorite design, buy your own fabric and have your dress made at YDU. In this process you are guided and assisted by YDU staff and designers. You can find all dresses on the YDU website with detailed descriptions. Check out AMSTERDAM FASHION WEEK part I, II and III on

The credit crunch, financial crisis, you name it – it’s a topic, which affects a lot of people, terms like “recessionista” are popping up more and more. Women are searching for ways to be unique and express themselves, but also want to be conscious about their spending habits. With YDU and YOU the designer platform suggests a creative solution to clients, who have a passion for fashion and who like to wear a garment with a story. Therefore YDU offers dresses which fit all sizes, made by YDU designers. You can choose from various models and buy your fabric. It could be cotton for someone who wants to dress for less, and for example silk for a woman who wants to dress for more.

That means that you decide, how cheap or expensive the dress will be. The price of the dress consists of the costs of the fabric and a fixed fee for the actual sewing work of the designer.

NEW AT YDU:T-Shirts van Irena Krajina
Designing prints in a feminine and delicate way is what Irena Krajina loves.
She follows her intuition until she creates a visual she feels good about. She starts from the association of things to invent fresh prints, which are not trend oriented. Although she creates her work on a computer, mostly she does not like her designs to look computer-like, but more hand drawn.

Irena’s influences come from many places. At age 18, she left her native Croatia to travel around the world, becoming inspired and influenced by many interesting cultures, which is translated in her designs. Finally she settled in Amsterdam and completed a study in interaction design and devoted her first working years to graphics and web design. Now Irena is moving into the fashion world.

At the moment, Irena Krajina combines the development of innovative T-shirts graphic prints with her part time job as production artist by Nike.

The T-Shirts are now available at YDU!

Like a character out of a fashion fairytale, the French designer Delphine-Charlotte Parmentier learned to love jewellery assisting her grandparents at their button and fashion-accessory workshop.

She went on to pursue a higher aesthetic education steeped in ancient-and increasingly rare-techniques such as cloisonné (an enameling process) and cire perdue (that's bronze casting to the rest of us) before taking over and transforming her grandparents' workshop into a personal fantasy factory. Launching in the starkly minimalist early '90s, Parmentier was anything but: with her intricate, couture-quality craftsmanship and wildly creative designs she soon attracted the attention of like-minded, envelope-pushing designers who began commissioning collaborations for the runway.

This closely guarded A-list clientele exists to this day: even a cursory survey of Parmentier's current catalogue with its extravagant, navel-grazing, charm-bedecked chain necklaces, among other designs, brings certain iconic fashion houses immediately to mind. No need to travel to Paris anymore. Delphine-Charlotte Parmentier's current collections Madeleine, Trocadero and Pigalle are now available at YDU. For reservations call 0031 20 6269191 or pass by at the store.

We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
